Kremlin Acknowledges Receipt of Zelensky’s Letter, Putin to Review Later

The Kremlin has confirmed that it received a letter from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, though President Vladimir Putin will be briefed about its contents at a later time. Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesperson, stated that the letter has been logged by the appropriate authorities.

Peskov also addressed the possibility of a face-to-face meeting between the two leaders, suggesting that if Zelensky is interested in negotiations, he could travel to Moscow.

No further details regarding the letter’s content or potential negotiations have been disclosed by the Kremlin at this time.

On June 4, President Zelensky sent an open letter to Putin, proposing a meeting to discuss ending the ongoing conflict.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha characterized the letter as a significant proposal aimed at concluding the war, emphasizing that it would be officially delivered through diplomatic channels.

Previously, trilateral talks involving Russia, Ukraine, and the United States took place in Geneva on February 17-18. These discussions focused on practical issues and the mechanics of potential resolutions.

Steve Witkoff, a special envoy for former President Donald Trump, reported substantial progress after the first day of talks, indicating that both sides agreed to provide updated information to their leaders and continue working towards a peace agreement.

President Zelensky noted that the discussions had led to a constructive approach regarding monitoring the ceasefire, with the American side committed to participating in this effort.

As of now, there are no confirmed dates or locations for future trilateral meetings between Ukraine, Russia, and the United States.

The Kremlin has acknowledged the receipt of a letter from Ukrainian President Zelensky, with President Putin set to review its contents later. The letter proposes a meeting to discuss ending the conflict, while previous trilateral talks in Geneva showed progress towards a peace agreement.
