Ukraine is actively developing its economic strategy, titled “Economy of the Future,” with significant input from expert and industry communities. Energy has been identified as a fundamental component of the country’s future economic model.
This information was shared by Stanislav Ihnatiev, head of the Ukrainian Renewable Energy Association, following a specialized expert meeting chaired by Deputy Minister of Economy Daryna Marchak.
The meeting addressed the “Economy of the Future” as a strategic framework for Ukraine’s economic development, emphasizing the role of energy within this context.
“Expert and industry communities are actively involved in finalizing the overall economic strategy,” Ihnatiev stated on Facebook.
During the discussions, participants explored the key outlines of a new economic landscape for Ukraine, where energy is viewed as a cornerstone of the nation’s economic resilience and growth.
Ihnatiev noted that contemporary energy considerations extend beyond traditional issues of electricity generation and supply. They encompass the creation of a new market architecture, integration with European energy systems, the development of decentralized generation, green transformation, hydrogen economy, and enhancing the sector’s resilience to security challenges.
Additionally, the meeting participants identified several critical challenges facing the industry, including a shortage of flexible capacities, increased load on the energy system during peak periods, the need for infrastructure modernization amid ongoing threats, and the search for effective financing mechanisms for recovery and development.
According to Ihnatiev, the current phase presents opportunities for a substantial reboot of Ukraine’s energy sector, emphasizing innovation, flexibility, and integration into global markets.
Previously, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko presented the “Economy of the Future” project to the international business community, which, under an optimistic scenario, anticipates an annual GDP growth rate of 6% for Ukraine.
Ukraine's economic strategy, focusing on energy development, is being shaped with expert input. The strategy aims for significant growth, addressing contemporary energy challenges and opportunities.
