Ukraine’s military has been identified as the most formidable in Europe, a status attributed to its extensive combat experience and substantial support from Western allies. This assertion was made by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Rubio emphasized that the combination of real battlefield experience and systematic military assistance has significantly bolstered Ukraine’s defense capabilities. He stated, “It is important to clearly note that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are currently the strongest and most powerful in all of Europe—largely due to the assistance received, but also because of the combat experience gained.”
The Secretary of State highlighted the stark contrast in personnel losses between Russia and Ukraine. According to his estimates, Russia suffers between 15,000 to 20,000 military casualties each month, a figure that is five times higher than that of Ukrainian forces.
Rubio also pointed out the extensive human and economic toll the war has taken on both nations. He acknowledged a noticeable slowdown in the negotiation process, attributing this to the optimism both Kyiv and Moscow maintain regarding their military prospects.
Despite the current diplomatic lull, Washington remains hopeful for a revival of dialogue. Rubio expressed optimism that a moment will soon arrive when both parties will be ready to return to the negotiating table.
