Ukraine Warns of Severe Consequences from Potential Belarusian Attack

During a recent United Nations Security Council meeting, Ukraine’s Ambassador to the UN, Andrii Melnyk, expressed grave concerns regarding a potential military assault from Belarus, indicating that such an action would have devastating repercussions for the regime of Alexander Lukashenko.

Melnyk pointed out that the Belarusian government has effectively permitted Russia to utilize its territory, military infrastructure, and airspace for aggression against Ukraine. He emphasized the increasing threats posed by joint military exercises, mobilization efforts, and the deployment of advanced missile systems in Belarus.

The Ukrainian diplomat reiterated that if a new invasion were to occur from the north, Ukraine would respond in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, which pertains to the right to self-defense. He stated, “Any attack from the north will provoke an immediate and decisive response, and the regime in Minsk will face devastating consequences.”

Furthermore, Melnyk urged the UN Security Council to intensify pressure on both Russia and Belarus to prevent any further escalation of the conflict.

Ukraine's Ambassador to the UN, Andrii Melnyk, warned of dire consequences for Belarus if it engages in military aggression. He called for increased international pressure on both Belarus and Russia to avert further conflict escalation.
