Ukraine Warned of Potential Russian Missile Strike

U.S. intelligence has alerted Ukraine about a possible missile strike using the “Oreshnik” by Russia within the next 24 hours. This warning was communicated by a source familiar with the situation, although no official statements have been released by the U.S. administration or the embassy in Kyiv at this time.

The Ukrainian Air Force has previously indicated that Russia could deploy the “Oreshnik” missile soon, urging citizens to heed air raid alerts. Currently, Ukraine lacks the capability to independently track the launches and flight paths of the “Oreshnik,” as explained by Anton Zemlyany, a senior analyst at the Ukrainian Center for Security and Cooperation.

Despite this limitation, Ukrainian air defense systems are receiving information about Russian military activities, largely thanks to intelligence from partner nations. For further details, readers can refer to additional reports from RBC-Ukraine.

To date, Russia has conducted three attacks on Ukrainian cities using the “Oreshnik.” The first occurred in Dnipro in 2024, followed by a strike in Lviv Oblast in January 2026. The most recent incident involved a missile hitting garages in Bila Tserkva this May, with another missile landing in occupied Donetsk during the same month.

Launches of the “Oreshnik” are carried out from the Kapustin Yar testing ground, located approximately 1,100 kilometers from Kyiv. The nearby area is characterized by poverty and destruction, as previously reported by RBC-Ukraine.

U.S. intelligence has warned Ukraine of a potential missile strike from Russia using the "Oreshnik" within 24 hours. Ukrainian defense systems are currently reliant on partner intelligence for tracking such threats.
