Ukraine Expects Continued Military Cooperation with Bulgaria Despite Aid Suspension

Despite Bulgarian Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov’s announcement regarding the cessation of military aid to Ukraine, officials in Kyiv maintain that the flow of Bulgarian weapons will persist.

This assertion was made by Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Georgiy Tikhiy during a recent briefing.

“Currently, Ukraine is not receiving free military assistance from Bulgaria. However, our defense cooperation continues on a commercial basis, which is mutually beneficial for both Ukraine and Bulgaria,” Tikhiy stated.

He expressed optimism about the ongoing collaboration, emphasizing its advantages for Ukraine, which gains essential resources, and for Bulgaria, which has the opportunity to scale up production and generate revenue.

“We hope that our defense cooperation will continue in a commercial framework. It appears to strengthen both nations,” he added.

Tikhiy also extended gratitude to Bulgaria for its support, highlighting the value of partnerships with Bulgarian defense firms.

“This commercial cooperation allows us to achieve peace more swiftly. The stronger Ukraine is, the more resources we possess, and the greater our strength, the sooner peace will come,” he concluded.

Ukrainian officials assert that military collaboration with Bulgaria will continue despite the suspension of free aid. The ongoing commercial partnership is seen as beneficial for both nations, enhancing Ukraine's defense capabilities while providing economic opportunities for Bulgaria.
