Ukraine and Saudi Arabia have established a strategic security partnership focusing on three key areas, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
During a meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, Zelensky announced that the agreements reached are currently being actively developed. The collaboration will include the export of Ukrainian security expertise in air defense, strengthening energy system resilience, and addressing global food security issues.
“We are working together to empower our nations and partners. We have defined tasks for our teams and I expect prompt and complete implementation,” Zelensky stated.
Zelensky emphasized that in the context of destabilized international relations, bilateral cooperation plays a crucial role in restoring confidence. Both leaders exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East and the Gulf region.
“At a time when international relations are significantly destabilized, such bilateral work helps to restore confidence,” he added.
Recently, Ukraine and Saudi Arabia officially signed a defense cooperation agreement. This document, established between the defense ministries of both nations, lays the groundwork for joint arms production and technology exchange.
During his current visit to Riyadh, Zelensky also met with a group of Ukrainian military experts who have been in the kingdom for over a week to provide consultations and establish practical security cooperation.
Bloomberg previously reported on the impending signing of a security agreement between Kyiv and Riyadh amid Ukraine’s intensified diplomatic efforts in the Persian Gulf region. Saudi Arabia continues to play a significant role as a mediator, particularly in matters concerning the return of Ukrainian prisoners of war.
Ukraine and Saudi Arabia have entered into a strategic security partnership aimed at enhancing air defense, energy resilience, and food security. This collaboration follows a recent defense agreement and reflects ongoing diplomatic efforts in the region.
