The United States has acknowledged a letter from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to former President Donald Trump, according to Ukrainian presidential advisor Dmytro Lytvyn. He confirmed that the response is currently in progress but did not disclose further details.
Zelensky’s correspondence, sent on May 27, was prompted by a critical shortage of air defense systems in Ukraine, exacerbated by increased Russian attacks. The Ukrainian leader emphasized that this deficiency poses a significant threat to civilian safety, as the country lacks sufficient capabilities to intercept ballistic missiles.
Following the dispatch of his letter, Zelensky met with U.S. lawmakers visiting Ukraine, where he discussed his proposals aimed at Congress and the White House. He reported that the congressional delegation expressed support for these initiatives, which are intended to bolster Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
The U.S. has confirmed it is working on a response to President Zelensky's urgent request for air defense support. This comes as Ukraine faces heightened threats from Russian missile attacks, prompting increased calls for military assistance.
