Russia has indicated a potential willingness to restart negotiations with Ukraine, according to statements made by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. This announcement was reported by Russian media outlets.
Lavrov stated, “Russia is ready to resume negotiations with Ukraine from the point where they were halted.” He further commented on previous discussions held in Alaska, suggesting that they may have been intended to “buy time for the arming of the Ukrainian military.”
In his remarks, Lavrov also criticized the European Union, alleging that it is currently providing substantial financial and military support to Ukraine.
The Russian Foreign Minister did not shy away from addressing the United States, accusing the Trump administration of intensifying sanctions against Russia. He noted that many statements made following the Alaska talks have since been disregarded.
“In addition to continuing all Biden-era sanctions, a significant package of sanctions from the Trump administration against Russia has already been enacted,” Lavrov said.
He concluded by asserting that the U.S. is retreating from its claims of being an impartial mediator in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, now demanding an immediate ceasefire.
Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has expressed readiness to resume negotiations with Ukraine, while also criticizing Western support for Ukraine and U.S. sanctions. The comments reflect ongoing tensions and the complex geopolitical landscape surrounding the conflict.
