Traffic congestion has been a recurring issue due to the activities of police and military recruitment centers working together on the roads. The National Police chief acknowledged that these joint operations are indeed responsible for some of the delays experienced by drivers.
In response to inquiries about the authority of police officers in blocking roads, the head of the National Police stated that their actions are governed by the National Police Law and specific Cabinet resolutions. However, he emphasized that the locations of checkpoints and traffic restrictions are determined not by the police alone, but by military command.
According to him, measures such as document checks and vehicle movement restrictions are implemented based on directives from military authorities. The police serve as a supporting force within these joint patrols, executing tasks at designated locations without independently deciding on road closures or patrol route changes.
“We understand the inconvenience this causes for drivers, but we urge everyone to cooperate constructively, as these measures are taken under military leadership to ensure the country’s defense and security,” he added.
Previously, RБК-Ukraine provided information on who has the authority to stop vehicles, the necessary documentation, and whether military representatives can forcibly remove drivers from their cars.
