The President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, has not received an invitation to the upcoming Ukraine Recovery Conference set to take place in Gdańsk. This decision is attributed to ongoing internal political issues.
Georgiy Tikhy, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, revealed this information during a televised marathon. He noted that the current conflict between Poland and Ukraine has created unfavorable conditions for the conference.
Tikhy also mentioned that Nawrocki expressed his concerns to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky regarding his exclusion from such a significant event. “This is an event organized by Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Thus, we again see the political dimension that currently exists in Poland,” he stated.
This year’s conference will focus on security and defense, emphasizing not just the allocation of funds and credits for recovery but also on strategies to protect Ukraine, thereby reducing the need for extensive reconstruction.
It is important to note that the Ukraine Recovery Conference is scheduled for June 25-26.
In related news, tensions between Ukraine and Poland were further exacerbated when the Polish government reacted strongly to President Zelensky’s decision to honor a unit of the Special Operations Forces with the title “Heroes of UPA.”
The exclusion of Poland's President from the Ukraine Recovery Conference highlights escalating political tensions between the two countries. Scheduled for June 25-26, the conference will prioritize security measures alongside recovery efforts.
