Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak announced that Warsaw is prepared to enhance NATO’s eastern flank by increasing the presence of American troops.
“Poland is ready to host additional US forces to strengthen NATO’s eastern flank and ensure better protection for Europe,” he stated.
Błaszczak emphasized that the alliance between Poland and the United States remains a cornerstone of the country’s security.
This statement came shortly after former President Donald Trump’s remarks at the White House, where he indicated the possibility of relocating US troops to Poland or other Eastern NATO countries.
Trump also praised Polish President Karol Nawrocki, whom his administration had previously supported. “We have a great relationship with Poland, and I have a wonderful relationship with the president. I supported him, and he won. He is a great fighter and a great person,” Trump remarked.
Currently, approximately 10,000 American troops are stationed in Poland. In light of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine and the increasing Russian military presence in Belarus, Warsaw is actively increasing its defense spending.
According to Bloomberg, Poland is currently allocating nearly 5% of its GDP to defense, one of the highest rates among NATO countries.
Poland is poised to strengthen NATO's eastern defenses by welcoming additional US troops, as confirmed by Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak. This development follows remarks from former President Trump, highlighting the ongoing commitment to US-Polish relations amidst rising regional tensions.
