Iran has consented to an indefinite halt of its nuclear program, with no frozen assets to be released by the United States. A final peace agreement could be signed within days, according to recent statements from Donald Trump.
Trump indicated that negotiations for a long-term peace plan with Tehran are nearing completion. He announced that delegations are expected to meet over the weekend, with the potential for an agreement to be finalized “within the next day or two.”
The primary condition of the agreement is Iran’s complete cessation of nuclear development. Trump emphasized that the moratorium will have no expiration date, stating, “Without any years, this is an unlimited period.”
He also dismissed reports suggesting the release of $20 billion in Iranian assets in exchange for the transfer of enriched uranium, repeatedly denying any plans to return funds to Tehran.
Furthermore, Trump noted that Tehran is willing to cooperate fully, including the transfer of enriched uranium stocks to the United States. He clarified that this operation will not involve U.S. ground troops, explaining, “Our people will work with the Iranians to obtain this. Then we will take it to the United States,” ensuring that the transfer will occur peacefully as part of the agreement.
In addition, Trump stated that Iran has agreed to stop supporting proxy terrorist groups, including Hezbollah and Hamas.
In related developments, Iran announced the opening of the Strait of Hormuz for commercial vessels during a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah. This announcement has led to a significant drop in global oil prices, with Brent crude falling by more than 10%.
Despite the potential for peace, Trump noted that the maritime blockade on vessels heading to Iranian ports will remain in effect until a comprehensive agreement is fully signed. Regarding the situation in Lebanon, he called for an end to Israeli strikes, asserting, “Israel must stop. They cannot continue to blow up buildings. I will not allow this.”
Iran has agreed to an indefinite suspension of its nuclear program as peace talks progress, with a potential agreement expected soon. The U.S. will not release frozen assets, and Iran has committed to cease support for terrorist groups while cooperating on uranium transfer.
