U.S. President Donald Trump has indicated that leaders in Iran have yet to reach an agreement with Washington, attributing the impasse to their strong and proud nature.
Trump remarked, “They are strong, they are proud, and there are things they never thought they would have to do. They have no choice, and it takes time.” He also criticized those urging him to expedite a deal with Iran to end the ongoing conflict, asserting that his pace is already swift compared to historical precedents.
“I am moving very quickly. It has been three months. You know, Vietnam lasted 19 years. I am in my third month, and all they say is, ‘Wow, when will you win?’ If I were a Democrat, no one would be saying that, but I am used to it,” he stated.
In his comments, Trump claimed that the U.S. has significantly weakened Iran’s military capabilities during the conflict. He noted that while many drone production facilities and missile launch sites have been destroyed, Iran still retains some missiles and drones.
“Most of the drone manufacturing plants are gone, most of the launch sites are gone, and most of the missile production facilities are gone. But they still have capabilities. They have a certain number of missiles, and they have some drones. I would say, in percentage terms, maybe 21-22% of their missiles remain. That is a lot of missiles, but it is not what it was when we first attacked,” Trump explained.
He suggested that a deal with Iranian leaders may not materialize, hinting that he might have to make a difficult decision moving forward.
President Trump discussed the ongoing negotiations with Iran, emphasizing their strong stance and the military actions taken by the U.S. He expressed skepticism about reaching an agreement and acknowledged the remaining capabilities of Iran's military.
