Ukrainian firm Roboneers has introduced the Wardog TRN, a specialized drone designed to tackle critical communication challenges on the battlefield. This UAV aims to ensure reliable radio communication, telemetry, and video streaming in areas affected by strong enemy jamming or challenging terrain.
The primary function of the Wardog TRN is to establish a mobile radio network in the air. When ground antennas struggle to transmit signals through dense urban environments, forests, or hills, the drone ascends to altitudes of up to 900 meters, acting as a powerful relay.
Specifications include:
- tactical range of up to 10 kilometers;
- maximum flight altitude of 900 meters;
- continuous flight duration of up to 1 hour;
- cruising speed of 68 km/h;
- payload capacity of up to 3 kilograms for relay equipment.
The drone operates using a secure digital channel at a frequency of 2.4 GHz. Its advanced optical inertial navigation system ensures stable flight, allowing the drone to navigate both day and night using internal sensors and algorithms, even in the event of complete GPS signal disruption by adversaries.

Designed to work in tandem
The Wardog TRN was developed as a technological complement to the first drone in the series, the Wardog Scout. Together, they create a cohesive closed-loop system for frontline units.
The Scout model conducts traditional surveillance, capturing images in both visible and infrared spectra and transmitting 4K video via a high-zoom camera.
Meanwhile, the TRN model maintains a secure digital corridor over the battlefield, ensuring that vital optical information is relayed without delay to operators and nearby strike drones.
This strategy allows reconnaissance drones to operate at maximum range without the risk of losing control due to electronic countermeasures.

Accessibility for Defense Forces
Both drones are based on a common platform, simplifying logistics, repairs, and crew training. Ukrainian security and defense units can now officially order the Scout and Wardog TRN systems. The equipment has been added to the state technology marketplace, Brave1 Market, where it can be purchased using e-Points.
Roboneers is also known for other robotic solutions, having previously integrated the well-known remote combat module Shablya MK-19 onto their ground-based tracked platform, Volya-E, which has successfully completed a full cycle of fire tests at training grounds.
Roboneers has launched the Wardog TRN drone, designed to enhance secure communication on the battlefield. This UAV works alongside the Wardog Scout, creating a comprehensive system for military operations.
