On April 26, Ukraine’s energy authorities have announced that there will be no scheduled power outages. Energy officials are advising consumers to shift their use of high-energy appliances to daytime hours.
According to the energy sector’s latest updates, there are no anticipated measures to restrict electricity consumption on Sunday. However, residents are urged to use energy resources judiciously and be mindful of peak load times.
Specifically, experts recommend that energy-intensive activities be conducted during the day, particularly between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM. At the same time, citizens are encouraged to limit the use of powerful electrical devices during the evening hours, particularly from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
In related news, Ukraine has recently uncovered a significant corruption scheme involving the state-owned enterprise, NЕК “Укренерго.” Between 2022 and 2024, company officials and commercial representatives orchestrated equipment purchases at inflated prices, resulting in state losses exceeding 447 million hryvnias.
Additionally, a scandal has emerged concerning gas procurement for the needs of “Укргазвидобування,” where the state company overpaid for energy resources by nearly 300 million hryvnias due to a similar scheme.
Law enforcement agencies have also documented instances of misappropriation of funds within the trade unions of the company “Оператор ГТС України.” Reports indicate that 15 million hryvnias, instead of being used to support the sector, were spent on luxury vacations, trips, and corporate events.
Ukraine's energy authorities have confirmed that there will be no power outages scheduled for April 26, while urging consumers to manage their energy use wisely. Recent corruption scandals in the energy sector highlight significant financial mismanagement, raising concerns about transparency and accountability.
