According to analyst Mark Gurman, Apple’s upcoming iOS 27 will unveil three significant hidden features coinciding with the release of the iPhone 18 lineup.
One of the key updates involves a more flexible Siri. Apple is working on integrating full support for third-party chatbots directly into the assistant’s interface. This will allow users to switch from Apple’s standard AI to other popular language models with just a few clicks.
Currently, the first developer beta of iOS 27 supports integration only with OpenAI’s ChatGPT. However, the system’s architecture is being designed for future expansions, with plans to include options like Anthropic’s Claude and Google’s Gemini.
The second major enhancement pertains to a complete overhaul of the standard Camera app. This feature has not yet been included in developer test builds, as its release is scheduled for the fall alongside the flagship iPhone 18 Pro series. Preliminary reports suggest that Apple will allow users to fully customize the shooting interface for the first time. This means smartphone owners will have the ability to choose which tools, modes, or adjustment sliders are displayed on their screens and their arrangement.
The third update targets Apple Watch users, introducing a new watch face for watchOS. This adaptation will feature a simplified design based on the popular Modular Ultra display, which was previously exclusive to the high-end Apple Watch Ultra model. The new interface will be streamlined and tailored for the standard Apple Watch lines.
Analysts have expressed confusion over why Apple chose not to showcase these features during the main presentation at WWDC. It appears the company opted to focus media attention on the basic capabilities of its local AI indexing and the global update of the Spotlight search system. As a result, these interface changes are likely reserved for the traditional September keynote event.
Apple's iOS 27 is set to launch alongside the iPhone 18, featuring significant enhancements to Siri, the Camera app, and new watch faces for Apple Watch. These updates reflect Apple's ongoing commitment to integrating advanced AI and user customization into its products.
