In a significant operation, Ukrainian special forces known as “Ghosts” successfully incapacitated two large landing ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet and destroyed a radar station in Crimea during the night of April 18-19, 2026.
The targeted vessels, the Project 775 landing ship “Yamal” and the Project 1171 landing ship “Nikolai Filchenkov,” were stationed in Sevastopol Bay at the time of the strikes.
Details of the Ships:
- Project 775 “Yamal” – This vessel, launched in 1988, measures 112.5 meters in length and can transport up to 500 tons of cargo, including armored vehicles and troops. Its estimated value exceeds $80 million.
- Project 1171 “Nikolai Filchenkov” – Built in 1975, this ship has a cargo capacity of up to 1,000 tons, allowing it to carry numerous armored units and a large contingent of troops. Its estimated worth is over $70 million.
Both ships had been utilized by Russia in its ongoing conflict against Ukraine and are now rendered inoperative.
Additionally, the operation resulted in the destruction of a hostile radar station known as “Podlyot-K1,” valued at approximately $5 million.
This incident is part of a broader series of strikes targeting significant Russian military assets. On the same night, Ukrainian defense forces launched a missile attack on Taganrog, hitting the “Atlant Aero” facility, which manufactures “Molniya” drones and components for the “Orion” UAVs. Reports indicate that the strike was carried out using Neptune missiles, igniting a fire at the factory.
Moreover, drone strikes also targeted the Krasnodar region, including the port in Yeysk. Local residents reported explosions and smoke rising from the port, although regional authorities denied any fire incidents.
Ukrainian special forces executed a successful operation in Crimea, disabling two Russian landing ships and a radar station. This reflects ongoing military efforts against Russian assets amid the conflict.
