Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has urged citizens to remain vigilant regarding air raid alerts, citing intelligence reports that suggest a possible large-scale Russian missile attack could occur tonight.
In his address, Zelensky emphasized the need for continued support from Ukraine’s partners in Europe, particularly in providing missiles for the country’s air defense systems and crucial intelligence data to help safeguard lives.
He noted that the current supply levels for Ukraine’s air defense are insufficient to intercept a significant number of incoming missiles.
President Zelensky also highlighted that Russia has identified new targets for its military operations, focusing on Ukrainian companies that showcase advancements in missile technology. He described the ability of Ukraine to produce ballistic missiles and interceptors as a strategic threat in the eyes of the aggressor.
On June 2, Russia executed a combined missile strike on Ukraine, deploying ballistic, cruise, and hypersonic missiles as well as drones. Approximately 70 missiles and nearly 700 drones were launched, with many intercepted, though several ballistic missiles did manage to hit their targets.
In a related incident, Russia targeted a key facility belonging to Naftogaz in the Kharkiv region. The initial assault involved drones, followed by missile strikes.
Ukrainian President Zelensky has warned citizens of a potential Russian missile attack and called for enhanced support from international partners for air defense. He indicated that Russia is targeting Ukrainian advancements in missile technology, viewing them as a strategic threat.
