Ukrainian officials have reported a significant military operation targeting Russian naval assets at the Primorsk port. General Yevhenii Khmara, the acting head of Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU), informed President Volodymyr Zelensky about the successful strike, which involved multiple Ukrainian military branches, including drone units and special operations forces.
According to Zelensky’s social media update on May 3, the operation resulted in damage to the Russian missile ship ‘Karakurt,’ a patrol boat, and a tanker linked to the shadowy oil fleet. The attack also inflicted considerable damage on the port’s oil infrastructure, which the president noted would hinder Russia’s military capabilities.
Earlier reports from Russia indicated drone attacks near the Baltic port of Primorsk in the Leningrad region. Local governor Alexander Drozdenko confirmed that a fire had broken out at the port but stated that the situation was quickly brought under control.
On the same day, President Zelensky announced new sanctions targeting Russia’s shadow oil fleet, revealing that Ukrainian forces had also struck two vessels in the waters approaching the port of Novorossiysk. This move is part of Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to disrupt Russian supply lines and reduce its operational capacity in the ongoing conflict.
Ukrainian forces executed a coordinated strike on Russian naval assets at the Primorsk port, damaging key vessels and infrastructure. This operation is part of broader efforts to weaken Russia's military capabilities and enforce sanctions on its oil fleet.
