Ukrainian Forces Target Oil Processing Facilities in Russia

The Ukrainian Defense Forces have reportedly struck oil processing installations at the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery in Russia, according to a statement from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This facility is significant for its production of gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel, which are crucial for the logistics of the Russian military.

In addition to the Yaroslavl facility, the General Staff confirmed damage to the infrastructure of the Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant in the Astrakhan region, where a fire broke out on site. Ukrainian military officials noted that this plant is a key component of Russia’s gas transportation and fuel infrastructure, playing a role in supporting the country’s military-industrial complex.

The extent of the damage caused by these strikes is currently being assessed. Earlier, the Governor of Yaroslavl, Mikhail Evraev, reported that debris from a downed drone had struck an industrial site, although he confirmed that there were no casualties.

Similarly, the Governor of Astrakhan stated that the fire at the gas processing facility was extinguished within a few hours, with no injuries reported among the workers. The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that during the previous night, 286 Ukrainian drones were allegedly neutralized over various regions, including Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kursk, Rostov, Tambov, Ryazan, Astrakhan, and Krasnodar, as well as over the annexed Crimea and the waters of the Azov and Black Seas.

Since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion, various sites within Russia have been subjected to aerial attacks, with oil refineries frequently targeted in 2024 and 2025. Ukrainian forces have also conducted strikes on Russian facilities located in occupied territories of Ukraine. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has consistently affirmed that these operations aim to diminish the combat capabilities of Russian occupation forces and to compel Russia to cease its military aggression against Ukraine.

Ukrainian military operations have targeted key oil and gas facilities in Russia, impacting logistics for the Russian military. The extent of the damage is under assessment, while Russian officials report no casualties from the incidents.
