In the early hours of today, Ukrainian military units successfully intercepted an attempted maritime attack near the Kinburn Peninsula and the port city of Ochakiv. The hostile action occurred around 4:00 AM and was effectively neutralized before reaching its intended targets.
According to reports, the Ukrainian Armed Forces coordinated their response, preventing the enemy’s unmanned boats from advancing into controlled territory. A map released by military officials indicates the area in the Black Sea where the interception took place, marked in red.
Images shared online show the location where the Russian drones were intercepted, revealing that the vessels were equipped with Starlink satellite communication terminals. This detail was highlighted by military expert Serhii Beskrestnov, who noted that these terminals are among the few long-range control systems available to the adversary.
“As I mentioned earlier, the destroyed boats were equipped with Starlink, as the enemy lacks other long-distance management systems,” Beskrestnov stated, emphasizing the strategic significance of this interception.
He also expressed gratitude to the Ukrainian military personnel involved in the operation, commending their effective defense of the nation’s maritime borders and coastline.
This incident follows a previous attempt on April 23, when Russian forces targeted the port of Odesa with a drone. On that occasion, the Ukrainian Navy detected the incoming threat and neutralized it before it could reach any port facilities, demonstrating ongoing vigilance in securing the Black Sea area.
Ukrainian military forces successfully intercepted an attempted maritime attack today, preventing enemy drones from reaching key coastal areas. This operation underscores the ongoing efforts to secure the Black Sea region against hostile actions.
