Ukrainian Forces Strike Russian Warships in Sevastopol

On April 20, the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine reported that two Russian large landing ships and a radar station were hit in Sevastopol. The strikes occurred during the night of April 18-19, 2026, as part of a special operation by the Ukrainian military.

The targeted vessels, identified as the Project 775 landing ship “Yamal” and the Project 1171 landing ship “Nikolai Filchenkov,” were part of the Russian Black Sea Fleet and were located in Sevastopol Bay at the time of the attack. Both ships were rendered inoperable as a result of the strikes.

Additionally, the operation led to the destruction of a hostile radar station known as “Podlyot-K1,” valued at approximately $5 million. The Ukrainian intelligence agency provided this information, although there has been no immediate confirmation from Russian sources regarding these claims.

Since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion, various sites within Russia have faced aerial assaults, with oil refineries being frequent targets in 2024 and 2025. Ukrainian forces have also targeted Russian assets in occupied territories.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has confirmed many of these attacks, stating that the Ukrainian Defense Forces are systematically working to diminish the combat capabilities of Russian occupying forces and to compel Russia to cease its armed aggression against Ukraine.

Ukrainian forces successfully struck two Russian landing ships and a radar station in Sevastopol, rendering the vessels inoperable. This operation reflects ongoing military efforts to undermine Russian capabilities in occupied territories.
