Ukraine Signals Readiness for Peace Amid Ongoing Conflict with Russia

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has emphasized the necessity of concluding the ongoing war with Russia, indicating that the country’s military actions are now impacting Russia’s key events. This statement underscores the urgency for a resolution to the conflict.

In his remarks, Zelensky stated, “Ukraine is prepared to work towards peace. We aim to conclude this war honorably.” He highlighted that Russia’s reliance on Ukraine for its main military parade serves as a clear indication that it is time to end hostilities.

The Ukrainian leader reiterated that his government has extended a clear proposal for a ceasefire and diplomatic engagement, noting that Russia is aware of how to reach out for negotiations. He remarked, “If there is someone in Moscow who cannot live without war and is only interested in a parade, that is a different matter.”

Despite Ukraine’s overtures for peace, Zelensky noted that Russia responded with renewed attacks following the ceasefire proposal. Reports of hostile shelling have emerged from various regions throughout the day.

“Russia has not halted any of its military activities. Unfortunately, it has not stopped. Ukraine will respond in kind. Depending on the situation tonight and tomorrow, we will determine our justified responses,” he stated.

It is important to note that Ukraine initiated a ceasefire with Russia starting May 6, a proposal put forward by President Zelensky.

President Zelensky of Ukraine has called for an end to the ongoing conflict with Russia, emphasizing the country's readiness for peace. Despite Ukraine's peace initiatives, Russia has continued its military actions, prompting a potential reciprocal response from Ukraine.
