In the early hours of June 10, Russian forces launched an extensive aerial assault on Ukraine, deploying 207 strike drones. Ukrainian air defense units successfully intercepted a significant number of these drones, although some managed to reach their targets.
The attack featured various types of drones, including Shahed models, as well as others designated as Gerbera, Italmas, and loitering munitions known as Banderolet. The drones were launched from multiple locations within Russia, including regions such as Oryol, Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, as well as from occupied territories in Crimea.
Ukrainian defense forces employed a range of countermeasures, including aviation support, anti-aircraft missile systems, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups to repel the assault. By 08:00 local time, preliminary reports indicated that air defense forces had downed or suppressed 181 enemy drones of various types across northern, southern, and eastern Ukraine.
The attack resulted in 21 drones striking 14 different locations, with debris from the intercepted drones falling in 13 areas. The Ukrainian Air Force has advised the public to remain vigilant, stating, “The attack is ongoing, and enemy drones are still in the airspace. Please follow safety regulations!”
