Ukraine Intercepts Majority of Drones in Overnight Attack

In the early hours of June 6, Ukraine faced a significant aerial assault involving 272 attack drones launched by Russia. Ukrainian air defense forces successfully intercepted most of the incoming threats, although some drones managed to strike various locations.

The attack featured a range of drone types, including Shahed and reactive models, as well as munitions like ‘Gerbera’, ‘Italmas’, and loitering munitions known as ‘Bandarole’. The drones were reportedly launched from multiple regions, including Orel, Kursk, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Millerovo in Russia, and Gvardeyske in occupied Crimea.

Ukrainian defense efforts included aerial units, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups. By 8:00 AM, preliminary reports indicated that Ukrainian forces had successfully downed or suppressed 249 enemy drones of various types across northern, southern, and eastern Ukraine.

Despite these defensive measures, 19 drones managed to hit 11 different locations, with debris from the intercepted drones falling in 13 areas. The Ukrainian Air Force has urged citizens to remain vigilant as the attack was ongoing, stating, “The attack continues; there are several enemy UAVs in the air. Please follow safety regulations!”

On June 6, Ukraine thwarted a large-scale drone attack from Russia, intercepting most of the incoming drones. However, some managed to strike multiple locations, prompting ongoing alerts from Ukrainian authorities.
