In the early hours of June 3, Ukraine faced a significant aerial assault as Russian forces launched 198 strike drones from multiple directions. Ukrainian air defense managed to intercept the majority of these drones, although some did reach their targets.
The attack involved various drone models, including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and imitation drones known as Parody, originating from regions such as Bryansk, Kursk, Millerovo, Orel, Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, and Hvardiyiske in occupied Crimea.
Ukrainian defense forces responded with a coordinated effort that included aviation support, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare divisions, and mobile fire groups. By 8:00 AM, preliminary reports indicated that 189 enemy drones had been shot down or suppressed across northern, southern, and eastern Ukraine.
Despite the successful interceptions, eight drones struck seven locations, and debris from the downed drones fell in several areas. The Ukrainian Air Force issued a warning, stating, “The attack is ongoing, and enemy drones remain in the airspace. Please adhere to safety regulations!”
