Ukrainian Air Defense Intercepts Majority of Russian Drones in Night Attack

In the early hours of June 3, Ukrainian air defense forces successfully intercepted 189 out of 198 drones launched by Russian military forces in a coordinated attack. The assault involved multiple types of drones and resulted in strikes at several locations across Ukraine.

According to reports from the Ukrainian Air Forces, the drone attack began at 18:00 on June 2, with Russian forces deploying 198 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas models, and imitation drones known as “Parody.” The drones were launched from various locations including Bryansk, Kursk, Millerovo, Oryol, Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, and Hvardiyiske in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea.

The Ukrainian defense response involved a combination of aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups. These forces worked in unison to counter the aerial threat.

  • As of 08:00 on June 3, preliminary data indicated that 189 drones of various types had been intercepted or suppressed across northern, southern, and eastern Ukraine.
  • There were confirmed strikes from 8 drones at 7 different locations, along with debris falling in 7 areas.

The Ukrainian Air Forces have issued a warning that the attack is ongoing, with Russian drones still present in the airspace.
