Ukraine is progressing towards the capability to produce its own air defense systems, including various necessary formats such as systems and missiles. President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the importance of this initiative during ongoing communications with international partners.
“We are seeking anti-ballistic solutions. The key goal is to create conditions under which we can manufacture air defense systems in Ukraine, alongside our partners,” Zelensky stated. He highlighted that establishing domestic air defense production is a strategic objective that will ensure protection for decades.
In discussing security guarantees for Ukraine, Zelensky mentioned the importance of weapon supply packages and the ability to produce necessary armaments, including obtaining licenses and developing an industrial base for this purpose.
On April 15, Zelensky noted a critical shortage of Patriot missile systems, warning that Ukraine’s weapon supplies would diminish further if the conflict continues.
Additionally, ahead of the upcoming Ramstein meeting, Ukraine has coordinated with Belgium and Spain to enhance air defense capabilities and expand aviation support for the Ukrainian Air Force.
Ukraine is working towards establishing its own air defense production capabilities, a strategic move highlighted by President Zelensky. This initiative aims to ensure long-term protection and is supported by international partnerships.
