Trump Threatens Strong Action Against Iran Amidst Negotiations

On June 10, President Donald Trump warned that the United States would deliver a “very strong” response to Iran if a peace agreement to end ongoing hostilities is not reached. Speaking to reporters at the White House, he emphasized the potential for military action, stating, “We will attack them, attack them very hard.”

Trump also revealed that the U.S. is currently exporting oil from Iran, claiming, “We are taking millions of barrels of oil, millions of barrels every night,” and noted that Iran has just become aware of this development.

Regarding the negotiations with Iran, he expressed a desire for a substantive agreement, stating, “We want a deal that is meaningful, we want a deal that works. We were very close to a deal, but they keep playing games with us.” He mentioned that Iran had already agreed not to develop nuclear weapons, but a formal agreement is yet to be signed.

In response to Trump’s remarks, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated on social media platform X that Iran would firmly resist any pressure, labeling Trump’s threats as a sign of Washington’s desperation.

Earlier, Trump had claimed that Iranian military forces faced a “total defeat” and warned that Tehran would “pay the price” for delaying negotiations with the U.S.

These comments followed U.S. military strikes on June 9, which were described as defensive actions in response to the downing of a U.S. Army Apache helicopter by Iranian forces over the Strait of Hormuz. In retaliation, Iran announced on June 10 that it had targeted American bases in the region.

Negotiations between Tehran and Washington have been ongoing since April 8, when a ceasefire halted the U.S.-Israeli campaign of strikes against Iran. However, several complex issues remain unresolved, including the fate of enriched Iranian uranium, Israel’s conflict with Hezbollah in Lebanon, and Tehran’s demand for the return of frozen assets held abroad.

President Trump has issued a strong warning to Iran, stating that the U.S. will respond forcefully if a peace deal is not reached. His comments come amid ongoing negotiations and recent military actions in the region.
