Shooting Incident in Kyiv’s Holosiivskyi District Results in Seven Fatalities

A shooting incident in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv on April 18 has led to the death of a man who was critically injured during the attack, bringing the total number of fatalities to seven, according to the city’s mayor, Vitalii Klitschko.

The victim was in extremely serious condition, and despite medical efforts, he could not be saved. Currently, seven individuals remain hospitalized as a result of the attack, including one child. Among the adults, four are in intensive care, while two are receiving treatment for multiple injuries.

The incident occurred when an unidentified man opened fire on pedestrians, killing four people on the street. Following the shooting, he barricaded himself inside a supermarket, where he took hostages. Another victim was killed inside the store. The assailant was neutralized during a police operation.

Subsequently, a woman in her thirties succumbed to her injuries in the hospital. In total, six individuals have been confirmed dead, with 14 others injured.

A criminal investigation has been initiated under Article 258, Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which pertains to terrorist acts resulting in loss of life. According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, the shooter was a 58-year-old man originally from Moscow, who was armed with automatic weapons.
