Sevastopol Faces Total Power Outage After Ukrainian Strike

Sevastopol, a city under Russian control, experienced a complete blackout following a nighttime attack by Ukrainian forces targeting its energy infrastructure. The head of the city, Mikhail Razvozhayev, confirmed the situation, stating that emergency services are on high alert as specialists assess the damage.

According to the Telegram channel “Crimean Wind,” there were reports of six to seven impacts on the main electrical substation early on June 24, resulting in a significant fire visible from several kilometers away. Additionally, fires were reported in Simferopol and near Kerch.

Ukrainian military officials have not yet commented on the attack. However, June has seen an increase in assaults on military and energy facilities in occupied Crimea, marking some of the most intense operations since the onset of the full-scale war. Reports of new targets being hit emerge daily, while a fuel shortage has led to a ban on gasoline sales to civilians. Long queues of vehicles attempting to leave Crimea for Russia have formed near the Kerch Bridge, and children’s health camps have canceled summer sessions until September.

In a related development, Ukrainian drone operations reportedly targeted over 60 Russian sites during the night of June 23. Fires erupted at a thermal power plant in Kerch, and Ukrainian forces announced the destruction of a railway bridge over the North Crimean Canal, corroborated by satellite images.

Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, various locations in Russia and occupied Ukrainian territories have been subjected to airstrikes. The Ukrainian General Staff has confirmed most attacks, asserting that the Ukrainian Defense Forces are systematically implementing measures to diminish the combat capabilities of Russian occupying forces and compel Russia to cease its armed aggression against Ukraine.

Sevastopol has plunged into darkness following a Ukrainian strike on its energy infrastructure, with emergency services responding to the situation. The attack is part of a broader pattern of intensified assaults on military and energy targets in Crimea amid ongoing conflict.
