Recent drone strikes by Russian forces targeted the southern Odesa region and the Black Sea, resulting in damage to two civilian cargo vessels.
According to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority and Odesa Regional Military Administration head Oleg Kiper, the affected ships were registered under the flags of Panama and Barbados. One vessel was en route to the Port of Odesa for metal loading, while the other was departing with a shipment of wheat.
The attack caused a fire on one of the ships, which the crew managed to extinguish independently. Despite the damage, both vessels continued their journeys.
Additionally, Russian forces targeted civilian infrastructure and energy facilities in the region. Kiper reported that emergency services are currently on-site addressing the aftermath of the attacks, confirming that there were no casualties or injuries.
This incident follows a previous attack on May 29, when Russian forces struck a ship traveling from Odesa to Turkey, injuring crew members.
Russian drone strikes in the Odesa region damaged two civilian cargo ships and targeted local infrastructure. Emergency services are responding to the aftermath, with no reported casualties.
