On the night of April 29, Russian forces targeted the Shostka community in the Sumy region and areas in Kharkiv, leading to significant damage and loss of life. A 60-year-old woman died from carbon monoxide poisoning, while two others required medical assistance following the attacks.
Assault on Shostka Community
The assault involved drones and missiles aimed at civilian infrastructure, specifically targeting residential areas. The attack resulted in large-scale fires in several homes.
Emergency services managed to evacuate most residents in time. However, the victim succumbed to the effects of carbon monoxide exposure in her home.
The head of the Sumy Regional State Administration, Oleg Grygorov, confirmed the details of the incident.
Strikes in Kharkiv Region
In Kharkiv, the Slobidskyi district experienced shattered windows in multiple apartment buildings. The Nemishlianskyi district saw damage to around ten private homes, with one individual reported injured, according to the city mayor, Ihor Terekhov.
Additionally, in the Osnovyanskyi district, a hypermarket’s glass facade was damaged, along with one vehicle and two buses, as reported by the regional administration chief, Oleg Synegubov.
Earlier, on the night of April 28, Russian forces launched over a hundred drones at Ukraine. By morning, air defense systems had intercepted or neutralized 95 enemy drones of various types across the northern, southern, and eastern regions of the country.
In a separate incident in Zaporizhzhia, two men aged 40 and 45 sustained injuries from a morning strike; their conditions were assessed as moderate. In Kryvyi Rih, two strikes targeted infrastructure, resulting in one death and five injuries, with the number of casualties increasing after the second attack.
