On June 12, drone strikes reportedly targeted oil processing facilities in the Russian Republic of Tatarstan and the TolyattiKauchuk plant in the Samara region. Local monitoring channels and officials have confirmed the incidents, which occurred overnight.
Vyacheslav Fedorishchev, the governor of Samara, stated that the “Ukrainian terrorist regime” attempted to attack the region, although he reported no casualties or injuries. Eyewitnesses described hearing 12 to 14 explosions in Tolyatti, with drones observed flying over residential areas, according to the Telegram channel Astra.
Ukrainian monitoring sources indicated that a fire broke out at the TolyattiKauchuk chemical plant as a result of the drone strikes. In addition, the oil processing facility in Nizhnekamsk was also under attack, with reports of a fire occurring there as well.
The Ministry of Health of Tatarstan reported that four individuals were injured when a drone struck a residential building in Nizhnekamsk. Ukrainian sources suggested that this incident was linked to Russian electronic warfare measures.
As of now, Ukrainian military officials have not commented on the recent strikes targeting infrastructure within Russia. Since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion, various sites in Russia and Russian-occupied territories in Ukraine have been subjected to aerial attacks.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has confirmed many of these attacks, asserting that Ukrainian Defense Forces are systematically implementing measures aimed at reducing the combat capabilities of Russian occupying forces and compelling Russia to cease its armed aggression against Ukraine.
Recent drone strikes in Tatarstan and the Samara region have targeted oil facilities, resulting in injuries and fires. Local officials reported no fatalities, while Ukrainian military sources have not yet commented on the incidents.
