Kremlin Claims Territorial Disputes with Ukraine Limited to ‘Few Kilometers’

The Kremlin has asserted that the territorial disputes between Russia and Ukraine are confined to a matter of “only a few kilometers.” This statement was made by spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, who emphasized that a stable peace could be achieved immediately if Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky were to make certain decisions.

Peskov remarked, “As long as Zelensky lacks the courage to take responsibility for his decisions, the special operation will continue.” He also described the Easter truce as a “humanitarian gesture from Putin,” noting that both Russians and Ukrainians celebrate the holiday.

This year, Ukraine has engaged in several rounds of negotiations with Russia and the United States. However, no agreement has been reached regarding a ceasefire, as Russia demands the surrender of non-occupied territories in Donbas, a condition Kyiv refuses to accept.

President Zelensky has firmly rejected any notion of exchanging Donbas territory for other regions, asserting that the aggressor state understands its ability to retain border territories and that a time will come when Ukrainian forces will push the occupiers out.

The Kremlin claims that territorial disputes with Ukraine are minimal, urging President Zelensky to make decisive choices for peace. Ongoing negotiations have stalled over demands for territory, with Zelensky firmly opposing any concessions.
