In the early hours of May 27, several Russian cities, including Voronezh, Taganrog, Tuapse, and the occupied region of Crimea, were targeted by drone and missile strikes, according to local government officials.
Voronezh’s governor, Alexander Gusev, reported damage to a tire repair shop caused by drone debris. Monitoring channel Exilenova+ indicated that the military airfield ‘Baltimore,’ home to the 47th Guards Bomber Aviation Regiment, was likely the intended target. Analysis from the Russian publication Astra noted visible smoke in photographs circulating online from the vicinity of the airfield.
In Taganrog, Governor Yuri Slyusar announced the interception of a missile, which resulted in the ignition of several vehicles. Two women were reported injured, with one in serious condition. Astra’s report suggested that a fire broke out at the 325th Aviation Repair Plant, although it remains unclear if the facility itself sustained damage. This site had previously been attacked in December 2024.
Sevastopol, located in occupied Crimea, experienced a combined assault involving Storm Shadow missiles, according to the city’s Russian-appointed head, Mikhail Razvozhayev. The roof of the southern branch of the Central Bank caught fire, and nearby residential buildings suffered window and balcony damage due to the blast wave. Razvozhayev also mentioned that an administrative building on Gogol Street, which was not in use, was damaged, along with several nearby apartment complexes.
Reports from the Telegram channel ‘Crimean Wind’ indicated that the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet’s Air Force on Gogol Street was struck, resulting in a fire.
In Tuapse, debris from a drone fell at the marine terminal, leading to a fire that was quickly extinguished, according to the operational headquarters of the Krasnodar region. Astra suggested that one of the explosions in Tuapse might have occurred near a refinery, marking at least the fifth attack on the facility this spring.
The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed to have destroyed 140 Ukrainian drones over several regions, including Belgorod, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kursk, Oryol, Tula, Krasnodar, occupied Crimea, and the waters of the Azov and Black Seas. Ukrainian military officials have not yet commented on the attacks.
Since the onset of the full-scale invasion by Russia, various sites within Russia have been subjected to aerial strikes. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has confirmed many of these attacks, stating that Ukrainian defense forces are actively working to diminish the combat capabilities of Russian occupation forces and compel Russia to cease its armed aggression against Ukraine.
Recent drone and missile strikes targeted multiple Russian cities and occupied Crimea, causing damage and injuries. Local officials reported significant incidents in Voronezh, Taganrog, and Sevastopol, with ongoing military tensions in the region.
