Ukrainian Drone Forces Report Significant Impact on Russian Military Assets

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the newly established drone forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have inflicted nearly $40 billion in damage to Russian military targets within a year of their formation. This statement highlights the strategic importance of these forces in the ongoing conflict.

In a message shared on June 10, Zelenskyy emphasized the diverse range of targets struck by the drone units, noting that each successful operation contributes to preserving lives. He remarked, “The drone forces of the Armed Forces are a true example for many other armies, and during these months, we are particularly grateful for the mid-strikes: Russian military logistics across the occupied territories are now accessible to Ukrainian drones.”

On the same day, Zelenskyy signed a decree designating June 11 as Drone Forces Day in Ukraine, marking the significance of this military branch. He stated, “For the first time in the world, we have created such a type of force in Ukraine, and we are maximizing the development of these drone units. Ukrainians have proven that through technology, creativity, and courage, we can change the course of war and achieve goals that were previously either unattainable or required immense resources to accomplish.”

The drone forces, officially formed in June of the previous year, were designed to enhance management efficiency and adapt to the demands of modern warfare. The initiative aimed to consolidate various components of drone operations within the military.

Robert Brovdi, known by the call sign “Madyar,” was appointed to lead the drone forces following a presidential decree issued on June 3, 2025. Under his leadership, the drone units have reported significant achievements, claiming to have incapacitated approximately 100,000 enemy personnel since their inception. This figure includes both irreversible and sanitary losses, with each incident substantiated by relevant documentation and recorded in the military’s situational awareness system, known as “Delta.”

Ukrainian drone forces have reportedly caused nearly $40 billion in damage to Russian military assets in their first year. President Zelenskyy highlighted their strategic effectiveness and announced June 11 as Drone Forces Day to commemorate their impact.
