Ukrainian Air Defense Intercepts Majority of Russian Drone Attack

In the early hours of June 8, Ukrainian air defense forces successfully intercepted a significant drone assault launched by the Russian military. The attack involved 155 strike drones, including models such as Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, Bandero, and imitation drones known as Parody.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that as of 08:00 local time, their defense systems had neutralized 124 of the incoming drones. The drones were launched from various locations in Russia, including Bryansk, Kursk, Orel, Milleryovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, as well as from the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea.

According to the report, the Ukrainian forces utilized aviation, anti-aircraft missile systems, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups to counter the attack. The interception occurred across northern, southern, and eastern regions of Ukraine.

Additionally, the report indicated that 20 strike drones hit 17 locations, with debris falling in six areas. Ukrainian authorities urged residents to follow safety protocols as the assault continued and approximately ten enemy drones remained in the airspace.

“The attack is ongoing, and there are still around ten hostile drones in the air. Please adhere to safety guidelines,” the Air Force Command stated.
