The death toll from a recent Russian drone strike in Dnipro has increased to 15, according to Oleksandr Hanža, head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional military administration. Emergency responders recovered the bodies of two women and a man from the rubble of a partially destroyed four-story building.
On June 2, the attack also injured two children, a brother and sister, who required hospitalization. Their condition has been assessed as moderate, Hanža reported.
The strike occurred during a night of extensive Russian attacks across Ukraine, with Dnipro being one of the primary targets. Initially, 12 fatalities were confirmed, alongside 37 injuries, as search and rescue operations continued.
Dnipro’s Mayor, Borys Filatov, announced a day of mourning for June 3 in response to the tragedy. In addition to the casualties in Dnipro, reports indicate that six people were killed and dozens injured in strikes on Kyiv.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched 73 missiles and 656 drones overnight, with Ukrainian forces successfully intercepting 40 missiles and 602 drones. Kyiv was the main focus of the assault, but other regions including Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Poltava also experienced attacks.
The Russian Ministry of Defense described the operation as a “massive strike” targeting alleged defense industry facilities and fuel and transport infrastructure in Ukraine, claiming that all designated targets were hit.
The recent Russian drone strike in Dnipro has resulted in 15 confirmed deaths, with ongoing rescue efforts. The attack is part of a broader offensive affecting multiple regions in Ukraine, including Kyiv.
