Authorities in Kyiv are assessing the aftermath of a nighttime attack that has resulted in five confirmed fatalities as of this morning. The incident has also left approximately 65 individuals injured, according to Kateryna Pop, spokesperson for the Kyiv City Military Administration.
Among the injured are three children aged three, eleven, and seventeen. Around 40 of the injured have been transported to medical facilities in the capital, while 13 others, including two children, received outpatient care. Medical teams provided assistance to the remaining victims and one child directly at the scene.
Two energy sector workers were also among those injured. Following the attack, crews managed to restore electricity to 110,000 households. Emergency teams are actively engaged in recovery efforts, working to restore power to an additional 30,000 families still without electricity due to network damage.
The most severe outages have been reported in the Svyatoshynskyi, Obolonskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi districts of the city.
Rescue workers continue to operate at the sites of significant damage. Firefighting efforts are ongoing at certain locations, while others are focused on clearing debris and addressing the consequences of the strikes. During the nighttime operations, rescuers successfully freed a resident trapped in a damaged apartment.
Once firefighting is completed, the next phase of recovery will commence. Additional emergency services will be deployed to ensure residents can return to homes that are safe for habitation.
Later, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that one of the injured individuals succumbed to their injuries in the hospital, bringing the total death toll from the June 2 attack to five.
