Death Toll Rises to Five Following Russian Missile Strike in Dnipro

The death toll from a Russian missile strike in Dnipro has increased to five, according to local officials. The head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Hanchak, confirmed that a 40-year-old man succumbed to injuries sustained during the attack.

Initially, reports indicated four fatalities, with Hanchak also noting that 25 individuals were injured, ten of whom are in critical condition. The regional prosecutor’s office is currently investigating the incident as a war crime under Article 438 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code.

On April 14, the Ukrainian Air Force had warned of a potential ballistic threat to Dnipro. Russian forces have consistently targeted Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure using various weapons, including drones, missiles, and multiple rocket launch systems.

Ukrainian authorities and international organizations classify these strikes as war crimes, emphasizing their deliberate nature. Attacks on essential services and healthcare facilities aim to deprive civilians of electricity, heating, water supply, communication, and medical assistance, which some officials describe as genocidal actions.

The Russian government has denied allegations that its military intentionally targets civilian infrastructure, asserting that it does not conduct strikes against populated areas or critical services.

The recent missile strike in Dnipro has resulted in five confirmed deaths and numerous injuries, prompting an investigation into potential war crimes. Ukrainian authorities continue to assert that such attacks on civilian infrastructure constitute deliberate acts of aggression.
