In a series of coordinated strikes on May 27, Ukrainian defense forces targeted multiple sites within Russia and occupied territories, including Crimea, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
One significant strike occurred at the Tuapse Oil Refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar region, where reports indicated a fire and smoke on the premises. The extent of the damage is currently being assessed. The Tuapse facility is one of the largest oil refineries in southern Russia, with an annual processing capacity of approximately 12 million tons of oil, producing fuel essential for Russian military operations.
Additionally, Ukrainian air force units utilized Storm Shadow air-launched missiles to strike automated reconnaissance systems of the Russian Air Force in Voronezh, Taganrog, and the occupied city of Sevastopol. This operation aimed to disrupt Russian military capabilities in these regions.
The General Staff also reported successful strikes on command posts of occupying forces near the settlements of Tsvitni Pisky and Sorkyne in the Luhansk region. Furthermore, a logistics supply depot in Sorkyne and a drone production facility in the Zaporizhzhia area were also hit.
Among the other targets, a radar station known as ‘Nebо-SV’ was struck in the Kam’yanka area, along with a command and staff vehicle associated with the Russian Buk-M2 missile system near Kadiivka in Luhansk.
Prior to these strikes, local authorities in Voronezh, Taganrog, Tuapse, and the occupied territories of Crimea reported drone and missile attacks. Sevastopol, in particular, experienced a combined assault, including Storm Shadow missiles, as confirmed by the city’s Russian-appointed head, Mykhailo Razvozhayev.
In response, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed to have destroyed 140 Ukrainian drones over several regions, including Belgorod, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kursk, Oryol, and Tula, as well as over the Krasnodar region and the waters of the Azov and Black Seas.
Independent verification of the reported damages remains challenging. Since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion, various sites within Russia have been subjected to airstrikes. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has stated that these operations are part of a systematic effort to diminish the combat capabilities of Russian occupation forces and to compel Russia to cease its military aggression against Ukraine.
Ukrainian defense forces conducted targeted strikes on key military sites in Russia and occupied territories, including the Tuapse Oil Refinery and various command posts. These actions are part of Ukraine's ongoing strategy to weaken Russian military capabilities.
