Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense Introduces New Military Contracts

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has announced the launch of new contracts aimed at military service, including a basic contract designed for positions outside combat units.

This basic contract is set for a duration of 24 months and is intended for individuals who possess valuable civilian skills and prefer not to engage directly in combat.

While the Ministry emphasizes that there is no guarantee of complete immunity from combat situations, they acknowledge the unpredictable nature of warfare. Circumstances may arise where personnel assigned to non-combat roles could be called upon to perform combat duties.

During any time spent on the front lines, personnel will receive compensation comparable to that of infantry or combat contracts. Additionally, service members have the option to voluntarily transition to more hazardous contracts if they choose.

Under the basic contract, the minimum salary is set at 30,000 hryvnias per month. The payment structure is as follows:

  • The “base rate” for military personnel is 20,000 hryvnias.
  • For service in non-combat roles, a guaranteed base salary is supplemented by an additional 10,000 hryvnias.

Extra financial rewards are available for participation in combat operations at command posts or headquarters. For direct involvement in combat, personnel may earn up to 120,000 hryvnias monthly.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has introduced a basic military contract aimed at individuals with civilian skills, allowing them to serve outside combat roles. However, the unpredictability of war means that these personnel may still face combat situations, with a structured salary system in place for both non-combat and combat duties.
