Ukraine Imposes Sanctions on Five Individuals Linked to National Security Threats

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has enacted a decision by the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) to impose personal sanctions on five individuals associated with threats to the country’s national security and sovereignty.

The individuals affected by these sanctions include:

  • Ukrainian lawyer Andriy Bohdan,
  • Businessman Bohdan Pukish, linked to an associate of Viktor Medvedchuk,
  • Russian businessman Alan Kiryukhin,
  • Russian Olympic sports officials Stanislav Pozdnyakov and Mikhail Mamiashvili.

The NSDC has indicated that the actions of these individuals pose a significant risk to Ukraine’s national interests, security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. Notably, one of the sanctioned individuals is reportedly connected to a payment system that may facilitate the circumvention of sanctions.

The sanctions package includes various restrictive measures, such as asset freezes, halting trade operations, prohibiting capital withdrawal abroad, and suspending licenses and other permits. Additionally, the sanctions bar participation in the privatization and leasing of state property, along with revoking state awards.

The sanctions will remain in effect for a period of ten years, while the revocation of state awards is permanent.

Ukrainian President Zelensky has approved sanctions against five individuals deemed a threat to national security. The measures include asset freezes and a ban on participation in state property transactions.
