Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced plans to increase the range of long-range strikes against targets within Russia, aiming to diminish its military capabilities. In a statement shared via Telegram, Zelensky noted that the current strike distance exceeds 1,500 kilometers.
Following a report from acting head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Yevhenii Khmara, Zelensky emphasized the strategic necessity of these actions. He stated, “The straight-line distance is over 1,500 km. We will be increasing the corresponding distances, and these are entirely justified Ukrainian responses to Russian terrorism.”
The president explained that such strikes are intended to weaken Russia’s military industry, logistics, and oil exports. He also framed the actions as a message to Russia regarding the need to conclude the ongoing conflict and engage in diplomatic discussions.
“The results are evident to all. It is also clear that Russia must end its war. It is time to move towards diplomacy, and this message should be heard in Moscow,” Zelensky added.
