Ukraine Recovery Conference Highlights Defense and Security Cooperation

On April 27, a significant conference titled “Towards the URC (Ukraine Recovery Conference): Security and Defense Dimensions” took place in Rzeszów, Poland. The event featured discussions led by the Prime Ministers of Ukraine and Poland, Yulia Svyrydenko and Donald Tusk.

According to the Polish Prime Minister’s office, the agenda focused on critical topics such as defense industry collaboration, infrastructure development, energy strategies, and logistics. The conference also included an exhibition showcasing technological solutions from Polish companies aimed at enhancing security.

During his remarks, Tusk emphasized the importance of the conference in strengthening Polish-Ukrainian relations and advancing European efforts to ensure a secure continent, particularly in light of ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine. He characterized the event as a vital precursor to the upcoming conference on Ukraine’s recovery scheduled to take place in Gdańsk.

Tusk pointed out that the war has demonstrated to both Russia and the global community that Ukraine is capable of defending its territory, freedom, and independence. He also highlighted the significance of international solidarity and cooperation in this context.

Furthermore, Tusk reiterated that nations within the free world, especially European countries, are prepared to engage in financial contributions, practical actions, and strategic planning to support Ukraine’s defense efforts.

“It is crucial for us that the tragic and significant experiences of Ukraine become part of our know-how on how to protect the space above Poland. We are launching a drone fleet project to assist Ukraine and to assure our citizens that we are safe. We are safe thanks to initiatives and events like this one here in Rzeszów,” he stated.

The Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rzeszów focused on enhancing defense and security collaboration between Poland and Ukraine, addressing critical infrastructure and energy needs amid ongoing conflict. Prime Minister Tusk underscored the importance of international support for Ukraine's sovereignty and the need for strategic planning in defense initiatives.
