King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden has made his first visit to Ukraine since the onset of the full-scale Russian invasion in 2022. This significant visit is hosted by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
During his trip, the King will spend time in Lviv, a city located in western Ukraine. He is accompanied by Sweden’s Foreign Minister, Marie Malmer Stenergard.
In a statement, Minister Stenergard emphasized the importance of Swedish support for Ukraine, noting that it enjoys broad political backing and resonates deeply with the Swedish populace. She remarked, “Swedish support for Ukraine is special. It comes not only from political circles but also from the hearts of our people. Today’s visit with His Majesty the King marks the first visit of a monarch to Ukraine since the beginning of the war and serves as further evidence of Sweden’s unwavering support.”
