Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on March 3 that Ukraine will collaborate with the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and other nations to strengthen defenses against drone threats in the Middle East.
In a video address, Zelensky emphasized Ukraine’s significant expertise in countering drone attacks, stating that the country is currently the global leader in this area. He noted that the collaboration aims to enhance the protection of lives in the region.
“At the level of our teams, including those from the Emirates and Qatar, we will determine how we can collectively provide greater protection for lives. Ukrainian expertise in countering drones is the largest in the world, and drones pose the greatest challenge in the region. It is clear why there are so many requests directed to Ukraine. However, any such cooperation to protect our partners must not diminish our own capabilities here in Ukraine,” Zelensky said.
He also revealed that he has held discussions with the leaders of the UAE and Qatar, reiterating Ukraine’s commitment to diplomatic efforts in the Middle East and the Gulf region. Zelensky expressed solidarity with those opposing the spread of war and violence.
“The Iranian regime has invested for decades in actions that have destroyed the lives of its neighbors and others within reach. This has made them allies with the Russians in their war against Ukraine. Every drone in Ukrainian airspace proves that the Iranian regime must be held accountable for its attempts to destroy lives and people,” he added.
The situation continues to develop.
President Zelensky has announced a partnership with the UAE and Qatar to enhance defenses against drone threats, highlighting Ukraine's expertise in this area. He reaffirmed Ukraine's commitment to diplomatic efforts in the Middle East while addressing the Iranian regime's role in regional conflicts.
