On June 7, Ukraine is expected to experience significant weather disturbances, including thunderstorms and heavy rainfall. The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center has issued warnings for various regions, indicating a heightened risk of severe weather conditions.
According to meteorologists, moderate rainfall and thunderstorms are anticipated in all areas except the eastern regions. Notably, the Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, and Kyiv oblasts are predicted to receive substantial amounts of rain, with wind gusts reaching 15-20 m/s in certain areas.
Despite the forecast for rain, temperatures are not expected to drop significantly. Overnight lows will range from 13-18°C, with slightly cooler temperatures of 10-15°C in the western parts of the country. Daytime highs are projected to be between 24-29°C, while the western, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, and Odesa regions may see cooler temperatures of 20-25°C.
Weather Outlook for Kyiv
In the capital, Kyiv, and its surrounding areas, significant rainfall, thunderstorms, and possible hail are expected. Temperatures in the region are forecasted to be 13-18°C overnight and 20-25°C during the day, with Kyiv itself experiencing slightly warmer temperatures of 16-18°C at night and 21-23°C during the day.
The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center has classified the expected weather conditions in Kyiv and its vicinity as a yellow alert, indicating a level one danger. They caution that these weather conditions could complicate operations for energy, construction, and municipal services, as well as disrupt transportation.
Summer Weather Predictions
Meteorologist Vira Balabukh has indicated that the highest temperatures this summer are typically expected in July. However, there is some disagreement among forecasts regarding the average seasonal temperature. The most significant temperature anomalies this summer are anticipated in western Ukraine.
Additionally, Vazira Martazynova, a professor at the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Institute, noted that this summer is likely to see ample rainfall, with heat expected only on select days.
